The Communications Ministry: its Losses of Exceed 5 Billion Dollars Since the Beginning of the Aggression
Today, Tuesday, the Ministry of Communications and its affiliates organized a central event on the National Day of Resilience under the title “Seven years of communication despite the bombing and siege.”
At the event, the Minister, Eng. Misfer Al-Numeer, pointed to the implications of reviving this occasion to emphasize the continuity of steadfastness in the face of the aggression.He affirmed the Yemeni people’s rejection of subordination and surrender despite the ugliness of the aggression and the conspiracies it weaves.
He explained that the telecommunications sector continued to provide its services to citizens despite the difficulties imposed by the aggression by destroying the infrastructure of towers, stations and PBXs, and falling a number of workers dead while performing their work.
Al-Numeir confirmed that the aggression aircraft targeted communications facilities with more than two thousand and 760 raids, and destroyed 793 facilities and networks during the past seven years, and the sector’s losses amounted to more than five billion and 400 million dollars.
The minister held the aggression, led by America, responsible for all the crimes, bombing and destruction that the sector has been subjected to.
A report issued by the Mmnistry indicated that the sector worked to rehabilitate 211 sites and stations, after they were destroyed by the aggression, and 403 sabotage operations were repaired and maintained, which led to cables being cut off as a result of bombing and acts of sabotage.
The report indicated to its achievements. They are 55 projects related to the (WIFI) service for the Internet, 23 projects for the Internet service (FTTH), and 127 extensions of exchanges for Internet service (VDSL), and the implementation of (485) training programs and (262) messaging projects and stations, and the activation of 4G services in Amanat Al-Asimah and the governorates of Hodeidah and Ibb.
The report indicated that the catastrophic effects on civil society as a result of targeting the telecommunications and postal sector led to the isolation of 95 regions from the world, 64 establishments that lost financial and postal services, and 1,642 establishments unable to benefit from communications and internet services, and depriving 6,812,542 citizens of postal services.
The report indicated that 1,271,900 citizens were deprived of telecommunications and internet services, while 14 million citizens suffer from the deterioration and weakness of telecommunications and internet service.
