The Minister of Transport, Abd al-Wahhab Yahya al-Durra, appreciated the efforts of the supervisory committee to implement the plan to replace the floating tank (Safer) and the international efforts that led to the actual start of the plan to save the marine environment in the Red Sea and the countries bordering it from a major disaster in the event of an oil leak from the floating tank.

The minister, during his meeting today in Sana’a with the representative of the World Food Program in Yemen, Richard Divan, and representatives of the Office of the UN Envoy to Yemen and humanitarian organizations operating in Yemen, praised the efforts of the supervisory and UN committee, which lasted for three years until the purchase of the ship to which oil will be withdrawn from the old Safer reservoir, which is located Currently in Djibouti.

“Today we are in the first step of the last stage in order to save the floating reservoir Safer and prevent an environmental disaster that may be the largest in history,” he said.
