Palestinian scientist reveals global companies and networks for smuggling antiquities from Yemen

The Palestinian archaeologist and ancient civilizations, Mr. Muhammad Morqattan, revealed the existence of complex global companies and networks that stand behind the smuggling of historical and rare Yemeni antiquities abroad, indicating that the problem of smuggling antiquities affected all countries of the world and it is difficult to stop it.

In an exclusive interview with the “26 September” newspaper, Mr. Morqaton said, on Sunday: “Yemen is suffering from difficult conditions in all respects because of the continuation of the aggression and the blockade, and therefore there is difficulty in preventing the smuggling of antiquities, but this does not mean trying to limit them and prevent their smuggling
.
He denounced the looting of Yemeni antiquities, adding that the artifacts in international museums may be like an ambassador of Yemen’s civilization abroad, but in general this is not permissible.
