Immense Gathering in Yemen’s Capital Honors Imam Zaid’s Martyrdom: A Call for Unity and Resistance[Pictures]
In Yemen’s capital city, Sana’a, a large public procession was held today to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Zaid, revered for his teachings and resistance. The event, themed “Insight and Jihad,” drew substantial crowds, all unified in their commitment to stand firm in the face of adversity and uphold the values Imam Zaid exemplified.
Participants brandished banners and chanted slogans, pledging their unwavering resolve to continue the struggle against what they perceive as the unjust aggression of American, Saudi, and Emirati forces. They vowed to protect the Yemeni people and their resources against exploitation and declared their allegiance to the principles and values for which Imam Zaid laid down his life.
The marchers also underscored their commitment to follow the path of Imam Zaid bin Ali, cherishing the principles of truth, faith, and national reform for which he sacrificed. The event served as a reminder of his courageous stand against oppressors and tyrants, which continues to inspire resistance.
The commemoration of Imam Zaid’s martyrdom was seen by the attendees as an opportunity to strengthen unity and bolster resistance against contemporary tyrannies, irrespective of the sacrifices required. They emphasized that Imam Zaid, revered as a companion of the Quran, was a beacon of truth in times of pervasive injustice and falsehood. During the march, the Mufti of Yemen, Shams Al-Din Sharaf Al-Deen, delivered an impassioned address. He praised the Yemeni people’s steadfastness as a testament to their faith in Allah, His Book, and His Prophet, and their commitment to following the Prophet’s Ahl al-Bayt. The Mufti lamented the world’s inaction in the face of the Quran’s desecration and highlighted the hypocrisy of leaders who claim to champion human rights while disregarding these violations. He underscored the need for unity and resilience, invoking the spirit of Imam Zaid’s revolt.
Sharaf Al-Deen drew attention to the resilience of the Yemeni people, their love for jihad and martyrdom, and their unwavering commitment to their faith and nation. He praised their resolve, which he claimed left the world in awe and would continue doing so until divine victory is achieved.
The concluding statement of the march, read by Sheikh Khalid Musa, a member of the Association of Yemeni Scholars, lauded the Yemeni people’s connection to the symbols of the Holy Quran and revered figures like Imam Zaid. It noted that Imam Zaid’s revolution was seen as an extension of the original teachings of Islam, representing a model of dedication to truth.
The declaration stressed that the Yemeni people, out of their faith-based affiliation, are committed to confronting the enemies of their nation. It solicited the global Muslim community to take decisive actions against those who insult the Holy Quran, such as severing diplomatic relations and imposing economic sanctions.
The statement affirmed unwavering support for oppressed nations worldwide, particularly the Palestinian cause. It also urged the coalition of aggression to cease their campaign against Yemen, lift the siege, and address issues related to prisoners, reconstruction, and damages.
The statement concluded with a stern warning to foreign forces in the region, particularly the Americans, to refrain from infringing on Yemen’s territorial waters and occupying its islands, lest they face severe consequences. It also called on the Yemeni people to remain vigilant, prepared to face the enemy, and to draw lessons from the teachings of Islam and its esteemed figures like Imam Zaid.
