Sayyed Nasrallah reveals the American offers rejected by Hezbollah
The Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, revealed, in the “40 and Beyond” documentary, that he “received multiple American offers aimed at removing Hezbollah from the equation of the Arab-Israeli conflict,” after the liberation of southern Lebanon and western Bekaa in 2000.
In the fourth episode of the series (produced by Al-Mayadeen Media Network, and presented by Ghassan Bin Jeddo), Sayyed Nasrallah said that “the American concern revolved around how to neutralize Hezbollah from the equation of the conflict with the Israeli occupation.”
Sayyed Nasrallah stated that the American was telling us: “You liberated southern Lebanon, and the Shebaa Farms issue can be resolved through diplomatic means.”
Sayyed Nasrallah talked about the American offers, pointing out they spoke about “finding a solution to the Lebanese prisoners in the occupation prisons, recognizing the political role of Hezbollah, its entry into the Lebanese government, and providing huge financial aid to rebuild liberated and deprived areas.”
Sayyed Nasrallah continued his talk about the American offers at the time, which were also represented by “removing the name of Hezbollah from the list of terrorism,” and that “you will have a respected international standing, as you are a group that liberated its country, and it has humanitarian, social and educational institutions.”
Sayyed Nasrallah indicated that the US also demanded that Hezbollah “abandon the Palestinian intifada, as it was supporting it with money, weapons, training and expertise.”
The Secretary-General of Hezbollah pointed out that “the party categorically rejected the American offers, because it wants to help the Palestinian people liberate their land, and because Israel poses a direct threat to Lebanon.”
Sayyed Nasrallah asserted that, after the events of September 11, “Washington repeated its offers, but under the sword of those events; That is after Washington declared war against the organizations it classifies as terrorists around the world.
