Entesaf: 8,116 children have been killed and injured since the beginning of the Saudi aggression
The Entesaf Organization for Women and Children’s Rights revealed yesterday, Saturday, the number of killed and wounded children since the start of the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression on the country on the 26th of March 2015.
The organization said in a statement that 8,116 children were killed and injured, 3860 in which were killed and 4,256 wounded since the beginning of the aggression.
The organization stated that about 6,000 civilians have been disabled as a result of armed hostilities since the start of the aggression, including approximately 5,559 children, stressing that at least more than 2,400,000 children are still out of school out of an estimated 10.6 million children in total.
The organization explained that the blockade has led to an increase in malnutrition rates, as more than 2.3 million children under the age of five suffer from malnutrition, stressing that 632,000 children in Yemen suffer from severe acute malnutrition that threatens their lives with death during the current year.
Yesterday, the Social Development and Prosperity Touch Foundation for Development and Prosperity, in cooperation with the Child Community Center in Hodeidah Governorate, organized a celebration event for the International Children’s Day.
At the event, the Undersecretary of Hodeidah Governorate, Mohammed Suleiman Hulaysi, congratulated the children on the International Children’s Day, which falls on November 20 of each year.
He pointed out that the children of Yemen are living the worst humanitarian catastrophe in the modern era in light of the shameful international silence because of their targeting by the aggression coalition for eight years and depriving them of all the necessities of life.
Undersecretary Al-Hulaisi stressed the concern of the governorate leadership for the children and their keenness to take care of them, and alleviate their suffering as a result of the continued aggression and siege.
He praised the efforts of the aforementioned developmental institutions in organizing this event, and everyone who contributed to its support and participated in this important event.
The event included a speech about the reality of childhood in Yemen, the violations committed by the coalition of aggression against them, and the psychological, economic and social effects that the aggression left on them and their families.
Al-Selwi and Al-Sharif called on international organizations concerned with children to work seriously with governmental and civil agencies to reconsider their projects related to children.
The festival included various chanting and artistic performances, and honoring the supporters and the participating children with special needs, the mentally and physically handicapped, and patients with cancer and kidney failure, for whom aggression was a major cause of theirsuffering.
