Enemy media: In light of the attacks by the Yemenis, a Danish shipping company increases fees on “Israel”

Hebrew media reported today, Friday, that the Danish shipping company “Maersk,” which represents about 14.8% of the total global trade in containers, announced that, as of December 8, additional costs will be imposed on shipments heading to “Israel.” This is in light of the Yemeni attacks on ships associated with it.

According to the Hebrew “Globes” website, the size of the price increase will be $50 for 20-foot containers, and $100 for 40- and 45-foot containers. For its part, Maersk said that insurance premiums continue to rise for ships sailing to Israel, which led to Maersk needing to implement the Emergency Risk Supplement (ERS), noting that the addition is allocated for additional insurance costs, aiming to ensure service to customers in “Israel”.

The website reported that this is the second step taken by Maersk with regard to “Israel”, after it announced last week that it had decided to divert two of its ships from the Red Sea due to an “Israeli connection”, noting that the first ship is the “Lisa”, which it arrived from India and was headed to the port of Salalah in Oman, and “Maersk Pagani”, which departed from Cape Town and was transferred to Mundra in India.

It continued that “Maersk Pagani” is chartered by “XT” group led by “Audi Angel” (50% owned by the “Angel” company and 50% by the Israeli businessman Idan Ofer), and “Maersk” feared that these ships would also be a target for an attack by the Yemenis.

Maersk’s decision came after the Israeli company “Zim” announced that it was making changes to its transportation lines from eastern “Israel” due to the “deteriorating security situation” at sea in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea. The company announced that it is making adjustments in accordance with “strict safety protocols.”
