UAE establishes military base in Yemen’s Socotra
Emirati ships unloaded on Sunday telecommunication towers, radars, devices and modern technological contents on the Yemeni Island of Socotra, informed sources reported.
“The UAE began its practical phase in establishing and equipping the military base in Socotra, where many modern telecommunications and radar towers were emptied today on the island,” the sources said.
Mukhtar Al-Rahbi, media advisor to ‘Hadi’s government’, said in a tweet that the UAE is unloading the ship “Da Astra”, which contains a large amount of weapons, telecommunications towers, radars and other devices that may be used for espionage and military actions on the island of Socotra.
The American “South Front” organization revealed, in late August, 2020, that the UAE and Israel had created an infrastructure to collect intelligence on the Yemeni island of Socotra, which has become under the Southern Transitional Council’s control since June, 2020.
On August 29, sources revealed that the UAE transported military experts of European nationalities and Emirati officers to the island of Socotra Archipelago.
The sources said that a plane belonging to a private Emirati company conducted four flights to Socotra Island, noting that the UAE is working on building a military base west of Socotra.
