The Ministry of Fisheries condemns the transfer of hundreds of Yemeni fishermen to Eritrean prisons

The Ministry of Fisheries condemned the attack on a Yemeni fisherman and the taking of hundreds of Yemeni fishermen to Eritrean prisons and the confiscation of their boats and equipment.

In a statement, the Ministry of Fisheries denounced the Eritrean forces’ practice of various types of torture against Yemeni fishermen during a fishing trip in Yemeni territorial waters.

It considered the killing of the fisherman “Al-Nusi”, a resident of Wajiha area in Dhubab, last Thursday, by Eritrean forces’ fire during a fishing trip in Yemeni territorial waters as a crime against humanity that comes within the crimes committed by the Eritrean forces against Yemeni fishermen.

The ministry confirmed that the crimes of Eritrean maritime piracy and its blatant attacks are almost daily against Yemeni fishermen, which constitutes a flagrant violation of international and humanitarian law and crimes against humanity.
