The government media office in Gaza confirmed that the Israeli enemy authorities have arrested more than 5,000 prisoners from the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, making the number of Palestinian prisoners inside the Israeli enemy’s prisons close to 10,000.

The office said in a statement, on the anniversary of Palestinian Prisoner’s Day, which falls today, Wednesday, that the Israeli enemy practices the worst forms of torture against prisoners in its prisons, calling on the world to bear its moral and legal responsibilities towards their humanitarian cause.

It added, “We are witnessing the anniversary of Palestinian Prisoner’s Day, while the prisoners in the occupation prisons have doubled in numbers and suffering, and they live a harsh life due to their poor, inhumane living conditions imposed by the occupation in its prisons, which lack the lowest meanings of humanity.”

It stated that the anniversary takes place this year “in light of the continuation of a genocidal war waged by the Israeli enemy army on the Gaza Strip against civilians, children and women for the seventh month in a row, and Palestinian prisoners are still subjected to the most horrific types of retaliatory measures, aimed at depriving them of their most basic basic rights.”

The Israeli enemy forces, supported by the United States and Europe, continue to commit the crime of genocide in the Gaza Strip, for the 194th day in a row, by launching dozens of air strikes, artillery shelling, and fire belts, committing bloody massacres against civilians, and carrying out horrific crimes in the areas of incursion, amid a situation of catastrophic humanitarian crisis resulting from the siege and the displacement of more than 90 percent of the population.
