UNICEF: The suffering of Yemen’s children should not go unnoticed

The United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, stressed that the daily suffering of children in Yemen should not go unnoticed.

Sarah Pisolo Niyanti, the UNICEF Resident Representative in Yemen, said in a statement that the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) received a copy of it. “Sadly, the recent attack in Al-Jowf killed 19 children and injured 18 others.

“We were hoping that peace was on the horizon in Yemen, but the disturbing escalation of violence over the past few weeks is a harsh reminder that children in Yemen continue to bear the brunt of the war,” she added.

She stressed that a continued commitment to peace is the only way in which to protect the rights of children in this country.
