The speaker of the House of Representatives sends a message to the Secretary-General of the UN

Qouted from al-masirah website, in a letter addressed to the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Speaker of the House of Representatives Yahya Ali Al-Raei affirmed that the coalition of aggression led by Saudi Arabia and the UAE supports the opening of Yemeni airports, especially the airports of Aden, Sayun and Al Rayyan.

“The Saudi-led aggression is seeking to open Yemeni airports, not to lift the blockade but rather to encourage and push travelers, especially those suspected of having corona in an attempt to spread it among Yemenis, what confirms that Saudi Arabia and the UAE have continued to launch multi-form criminal aggression since 2015 on Yemen,” Al-Raei said.

Al-Raei, in his letter, dismissed the coalition’s allegations of a unilateral ceasefire in the country, as the Saudi warplanes launched not only hundreds of raids, but thousands targeted the public and private infrastructure and facilities.

“Saudi officials’ wards do not apply to their actions, including the failure to implement the call made by the Secretary-General of the United Nations for a ceasefire,” he said. “Is the coalition of aggression’s ceasefire refers to the personal weapons Kalashnikov and pistol, and to allow heavy weapons, rockets, cluster bombs, internationally prohibited weapons and air forces not concerned with their cessation?”

In his letter, the Speaker of the House of Representatives condemned the aggression’s targeting of locomotives at the Afar customs port in Al-Baidah, considering it a flagrant violation of norms, covenants, and international humanitarian law.

He pointed out that committing crimes against the Yemeni people confirms that the countries of aggression do not lend the month of Ramadan any sanctity and do not respect the feelings of the Yemenis in this holy month.

He added that the Yemeni people are making use of all their capabilities to fight the coronavirus, drawing the attention of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to the total violations that led to the loss of thousands of Yemeni lives and the destruction of infrastructure and public and private facilities.

In his letter, the Speaker of the House of Representatives expressed his hope that the Secretary-General of the United Nations would assume legal and humanitarian responsibility and take the necessary measures to pressure the countries of the aggression to stop the aggressive war against the Yemeni people comprehensively and permanently and break the siege, stressing that the Yemeni people are eager for security, stability and honorable peace, not surrender.
