Minister of Oil discusses the implications of seizing oil ships with the Acting UNDP Resident Representative

Oil and Minerals Minister Ahmed Abdullah Dares on Tuesday discussed with the united nations development program’s resident representative (UNDP) to Yemen, Auke Lootsma, the implications of the continued aggression in the detention of oil vessels and gas pipelines on the humanitarian situation in Yemen.

The meeting, which took place on a television circuit, reviewed the arbitrary practices of the Aggression Alliance in the continued detention of oil and gas vessels despite having obtained prior UN entry permits and being inspected in Djibouti.

The Minister of Oil stressed that these practices and repercussions negatively affect the humanitarian, living and health conditions in Yemen and increase the suffering of citizens.

He also called the United Nations Office for action on the launch of oil and gas vessels. He stressed the urgent need for petroleum derivatives, especially in the current circumstances and procedures to deal with the coronavirus.

The UNDP Resident Representative to Yemen confirmed the readiness to take this case to the Office of the UN Envoy to press the relevant authorities in this regard in order to release the detained vessels and allow their entry unhindered and not to compound the suffering of Yemenis.

“The response to this problem cannot be delayed and the UN envoy’s office will be contacted directly in this regard,” Lootsma said.
