Minister of Health: The aggression kills more than six thousand children and a women during eight years

Today, Wednesday, Minister of Public Health and Population, Mr. Taha Al-Mutawakel, discussed with the new resident representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund “UNICEF”, Peter James Hawkin, aspects of the partnership between the ministry and the organization. In the meeting, which was attended by the Advisor to the Ministry of Health, Mr. Ali Al-Madwahi, and the former UNICEF representative in Yemen, Philip Doamel, the Minister of Health welcomed the new representative of UNICEF in Yemen. He praised the efforts of the former representative, Philip Dumael, in unifying visions and joint work with the ministry, to contribute to alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people and providing their necessary needs, which contribute to saving hundreds of children and newborns in need of nurseries and respirators, which are difficult to provide due to the challenges imposed by the aggression and siege.
Minister Al-Mutawakkil stressed the keenness to provide facilities to the new UNICEF representative, to enable it to perform its duties, pointing to the difficulties facing the health sector as a result of the aggression and siege.
He pointed out that women and children were directly targeted by the countries of the aggression, which caused long-term psychological and physical suffering, indicating that the aggression killed more than six thousand children and women over the course of eight years.
